Marshall Islands politicians have been particularly vocal in calls for world governments to meet the terms of the Paris climate agreement and limit global warming due to the existential threat their country faces. The islands are home to around 70, people, and experts have said it is likely they will all have to be evacuated as the sea levels rise.

Much attention is also being paid to the analysis of the consequences of climate change on the basis of international law of the sea.
